Module 7

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
The key concepts of the "Last Call for Planet Earth: Sustainable Development and Architecture" is that we have to find solutions to protect our planet by finding ways to use its resources efficiently. The video showcases different architects and their creations and ideas on how architecture can be utilized to reduce the amount of resources needed to build and maintain new buildings, and how to use renewable and recyclable materials.

The key concepts of the "Architecture: The Science of Design" video is how important is design a solid base for building tall buildings and skyscrapers. The video also talks about the importance of concrete and about the smart house.

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The videos add more depth to the readings in the book. They build on the ideas represented in the book and show the extreme end of them. The same building elements but as a part of something a lot bigger compared to most of the buildings in the history. Skyscrapers, bridges, and even regular buildings use the same concepts that Romans and other nations used to develop their architecture.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of Architecture?
I liked both videos, I think they both illustrate the importance of good design. In the first video we have ideas on how to build efficiently and utilize as many green resources as possible, and in the second video we have ideas on how to build skyscrapers and how our homes would look like if they were fully automated.

4. Why did you choose the films that you watched?
I chose the "Last Call for Planet Earth: Sustainable Development and Architecture" video because I find discussions about our planet interesting.

I chose the "Architecture: The Science of Design" video because the title piqued my interest.
