Module 3

1. Describe Color and it's effects on emotions. Use the appropriate vocabulary of color in your posting.
Colors have different effects on our psychology. We associate colors with different emotions and the more we see certain colors the more likely it is to have the emotions related to those color manifest. Red is a powerful color and it invokes strong emotions like anxiety, or confidence depending on the context. Blue is a soothing color and has the opposite effect red has. Blue makes us calm, and stimulates clear thought.

2.What is a theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates you? Why?
I was surprised when they showed the Taekwondo video to judges. They altered the video to swap the colors but the content of the video was exactly the same, yet most of the judges gave more points to whoever was wearing red. Another theory that caught my attention is that language may affect our brain's perception of color. The Humba tribe easily found the different shade of green, but had trouble distinguishing the blue from the green. I wonder if that's because they see both colors the same, or if they have the same name for both colors.

3.In the Color videos, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and it's effects on emotions?
I never thought that colors could have such an impact on our emotions. I knew that some colors stimulate calmness, and others stimulate strong emotions but I didn't expect them to have such an effect on our subconscious behavior and decision making. The biggest one is the Taekwondo experiment and how the manipulation of color affected the judges' decision.
